Waiting for Fall

Fall is not coming this year.

I was earnestly expecting a month of full colors, golden leaves, and the various shades of red, yellow, purple, black, orange, pink, magenta, blue and brown so typical of the Fall season.

Instead the leaves are sticking to the trees for their dear life. Up to last week the trees were still green, the temperatures are around 65F, and there are not yet signs of rain. Well yes the forecast says that the temperatures should drop soon, then it is postponed to the day after.

So we are still sporting short sleeves in the afternoons. At the market some typically fall produce have arrived, but int he case of mushrooms less than expected. Chestnuts are here though.

I lived the most part of my life in Washington DC, now in Italy getting to know again my country. Plenty of surprises, for good and bad, and lots of nostalgia for DC.
