In Game of Thrones they repeated “Winter is Coming” like a dire mantra. In fact for the next and last season we are all expecting great calamities.
Could it be that in these modern days we should repeat instead “Summer is Coming” as a dire warning?
Sure Summer—always preceeded by Spring—is way prettier than late Fall and Winter; the flowers are blooming, birds are singing…, though both a little too early.
Nature started to bloom, but the trees have troubles in catching up, so it all looks a little strange. The birds “tweet” the arrival of Spring, and male birds chirp the mating season, but not all the environment follows up. So everything is a little out of tune.
Summer in Northern Italy now spans from April to late October. Although cost and benefits of global warming will vary greatly from area to area, global warming will probably make life harder, not easier, for most people. In a place such Italy we would probably suffer from increased heat waves, coastal erosion, rising sea level, more erratic rainfall, and droughts.
Summer is Coming!
