Unusual but Delicious
I like to try unusual combinations when I cook. Like the Winter Roses for Salad, or the Special Day Risotto;
Strawberries Fields Forever
Spring is almost upon us, at the market there are the first strawberries looking quite inviting.
Cooking For Friends
Having friends over I decided to serve ”strawberries and grilled bell peppers” as appetizer.
An easy dish, that looks absolutely beautiful when present, light and so healthy. What’s not to like.
The bell peppers—only yellow and red—should be grilled in the oven until they are blackened on the surface. Then peeled off and transferred in a serving dish.
Getting Under their Skin
To ease the peeling business, once I take them off the oven I cover them with a kitchen towel until they cool down enough to be handled. Covering them also prevents from drying and the peeling business is then easier and faster. Besides the more juice we keep the better.
The bell pepper can be dressed with little (but very little), olive oil (see All About Olive Oil), and balsamic vinegar (see All About Balsamic), and served alongside with the strawberries.
A Match Made in Heaven
The taste of these two ingredients seems to be created to just go hand-in-hand!
It’s something that makes you say “why didn’t I think of this before”
And it is a sure way to start a table conversation.
I have to quit reading your posts too far before dinner. They always make me hungry! Complimenti.
