Venice Carnevale Schedule

This year carnevale will span thru the 8–25 of February. The 14th—Valentine Day—is right in the middle. Logically then one of the themes of carnevale would be Love, ❤️ 💕 add to that a little play and folly!

The agenda is thick with events, about 50 between performances and initiatives for children and adults alike.

Other than the traditional festivities, the focus this year will be also Valentine Day, which will be on a Friday with big events for lovers/Valentines 💕 in piazza San Marco.

The debut will be on February 8 and 9 with the traditional water celebrations in Sestiere Canareggio and Rialto neighborhood.

From Saturday 15 to Tuesday 25 February, from 11 to 21/22 the heart of Venice will become a place for playful encounters and parades in the name of love, masks and crazy shows, making the public experience an immersion in magic and in the colors of the carnival with live music and DJ sets starting at 17.30.

Venice Carnival will also be celebrated in the nearby islands, with parades of allegorical floats and masks, at Lido of Venice (Friday 21 February from 16.30 in Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta), in Burano on Tuesday, in Marghera (Saturday 22 February from 15 through the streets of the Garden City), in Campalto (Sunday 23 February from 2.30 pm from the streets of the center to the church of San Benedetto), in Zelarino with the 53rd edition of the Children’s Carnival.

Apparently, there is already someone ahead of her time in Venice, just to be sure not to be late! 😁 (photos taken on Jan 4th!)

I lived the most part of my life in Washington DC, now in Italy getting to know again my country. Plenty of surprises, for good and bad, and lots of nostalgia for DC.
