Social Distancing and Clear Blue Skies

The long awaited freedom to roam is approaching. Although the official day to let us out—like a herd of horses waiting for the corral to be opened—will be May 4th, the streets are busy.

Many on foot, always in couples. There is a lot of walking, jogging, and power walking. It is quite nice to see.

The downtown is full though, and social distancing is sort of forgotten. Stores are starting to reopen, or to make preparations for a ”Yes, We are Open” sign!

The mood was—if not totally joyful—all considered rather complacent.

There are also more cars than (in my opinion) necessary. Why waste beautiful sunny days in a car?

The economic bad news will come soon enough I’m afraid.

I lived the most part of my life in Washington DC, now in Italy getting to know again my country. Plenty of surprises, for good and bad, and lots of nostalgia for DC.
