What’s best to do in these times of restrictions than a visit a winery for an afternoon of wine-tasting, immersed in green surroundings. We craved fresh air and sunshine, an invitation to visit a small winery in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, was a welcomed surprise.
Paradiis Winery was founded at the end of the 19th century; today is one of the most interesting wineries in the Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG), Region, in Italy. The Winery is spread over 25 hectares, in Paradiso, a small hamlet in the municipality of Pocenia, halfway between Udine and Lignano Sabbiadoro, a well-known seaside resort.
Immersed in an atmosphere of large green spaces and profound tranquillity, the Paradiis Winery estate welcomed us with its products, while leading us among vineyards and legends.
In these lands called “strong lands” because of the geological nature of these tenacious soils, suitable for the cultivation of low yield grapes per hectare, it is possible to obtain wines with a strong personality and unmistakable characteristics.
The nature of the soil and the climate, the attention and care for each variety of grapes grown on the farm, the exclusion of herbicides during the ripening stages of the grapes, allow a production of the classic white and red wines typical of this Region, in respect to a winemaking tradition that places the FVG at the top of the list of wine producers in Italy.
It is on this territory rich of history, culture, and gastronomy, with its mild and breezy climate that the Paradiis Winery has developed, from its past experiences to the present-day accomplishments. Keeping a commitment to cultivate quality grapes and applying his broad knowledge on winemaking, the current owner Emiliano Subacchi, a young passionate winemaker, has been able to modernise and transform the company into the current reality.
The Paradiis Winery is divided into the actual cellar where the wines are produced, stored, nurtured, and bottled; and “The Ultimate Paradise” where the wine-tasting, and sales are taking place.
