Dining in Paradise

In these times of Post-Covid (not so sure it is really “post”), businesses need to reinvent themselves. Restaurants in particular, with their necessity to keep customers “socially distanced” can really be a challenge. Moreover, most fancy weddings, where canceled or postponed; see Princess Beatrice of England and her Italian beau, for example.

Weddings cancellations was the dilemma of the restaurant “Trattoria Al Paradiso.” Therefore they organized alfresco dinners, in cooperation with the “Paradiis Winery,” that I wrote about it not too long ago.

The two businesses are located near one another in a beautiful secluded location in the heart of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. They joined efforts in providing a beautiful dining experience, coordinating the menu with the wines.

Nothing was left to chance, from the choice of location among the vine trees of the ”Paradiis Estate”, to the decor of the tables, the orchestra playing a tribute to the late Ennio Morricone.

We started the dinner with a welcoming Prosecco, while we greeted each other.

The appetiser was a “Fruit and vegetables salad with chèvre cheese” paired with a Pinot Grigio Paradiis.

While the orchestra played “Gone with the wind.” It was so romantic!

Then there was “Chiocciola [home made pasta] stuffed with eggplant caponata and Pesto.” It was paired with Pinot Bianco Paradiis.

Roasted Veal and Rosemary potatoes,” paired with a Cabernet Franc Paradiis.

While the orchestra played “Summertime” (from Porgy and Bess).

Dessert was “Peach marinated in Moscato Giallo Paradiis and ice cream,” served with the same Moscato wine

The final music piece was “Cinema Paradiso.” It could not have been more appropriate than that. Both for the name and as a tribute to our great composer Ennio Morricone

Grazie Ennio for the unforgettable music you gave us. May you Rest In Peace. 🖤

And  a big Grazie to Trattoria Paradiso, check their website here, it is a lovely restaurant, really worth a trip, and grazie to the Paradiis Winery for their location and wine selections.

POSTPONE, DO NOT CANCEL

Italy will welcome you again

I lived the most part of my life in Washington DC, now in Italy getting to know again my country. Plenty of surprises, for good and bad, and lots of nostalgia for DC.

  1. This looks absolutely stunning – the food, the location, the entertainment! I would have loved to experience that even before Covid kicked off, but it’s great that the businesses are still able to find a way to operate and provide such a great experience even with things like social distancing to take in to account.

    1. It was indeed a beautiful event, that came about because of necessity. Many restaurants are obliged to reinvent themselves because of COVID.
Thankfully it is summertime. I’m not sure how they will cope in winter. But for now we enjoy this.
      Thank you for your comment.
