Until Further Notice

COVID is back with revenge

EU is under a new wave of Covid. No need to give out numbers, every country in the world has its own data and preoccupations. This time thought, Italy is not at the forefront.

The winners are

  • France 1 235 132;
  • Spain 1 136 503; and
  • United Kingdom 942,275, are the countries with most contagions.

But then who knows data changes very fast. In the meantime we received some announcements about the restrictions.

This is the list of countries that we cannot visit:

Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Spain, United Kingdom, and Northern Ireland.

Restrictions

The Regions have the right to take further measures to counter the wave of infections. And Campania, Lombardy and Lazio did so by approving a curfew. That is, the prohibition for citizens to circulate at night, except for detailed and proven reasons.

For now we can still move between regions, but I think I’ll skip Lombardy and Milan. Funny how much one miss something when it is no longer available. It did occur to me that it is long time since I didn’t visit Rome.

We must wear the mask at all times, except in our own house.

Urgent measures in force until November 24: bars and restaurants closed at 6 p.m., gyms and swimming pools closed, cinema and theatre activities suspended, distance learning up to at least 75% for high schools.

For now we can still be out during the day, and if the weather is this nice, this is as good as it gets!

Life in a sleepy provincial town is a little more enjoyable, and the contagions are a little more contained [so far at least.]

Hair salons are not yet closed, but I think it is coming next, so I’m practicing the styling of my hair already—color and cut—it is not that difficult after all, and it is free!

Once again we can go out [a lot] for groceries, and our pantries are going to be filled up pretty soon, since grocery shopping will be the main excuse to go out. In fact as we can move freely to and from our kitchens, let’s start the cooking and baking again.

By spring 2021 we will be all out of shape dramatically.

I lived the most part of my life in Washington DC, now in Italy getting to know again my country. Plenty of surprises, for good and bad, and lots of nostalgia for DC.
